The opening of the “Vision of Native Americans” exhibit in Sucre’s Museum of Ethnography and Folklore drew a large and diverse crowd.
“Vision of Native Americans” opened on September 16 in the Museum of Ethnography and Folklore in Sucre.  The exhibit features posters of 15 photographs selected from”Sacred Legacy,” a collection by the late U.S. photographer Edward Curtis. It is the first time that Curtis’ photgraphs—which were originally printed in platinum, gold, and silver—have been reproduced. The posters are accompanied by Native American music and a PowerPoint presentation of additional native scenes captured through Curtis’ lens.
E.J. Monster, Cultural Affairs Officer of the U.S. Embassy in La Paz, was on hand to inaugurate the exhibit, which will remain in Sucre until October 3. This is the exhibit’s third stop after successful displays in the cities of Oruro and Potosí. “Vision of Native Americans” will continue on to Cochabamba, Santa Cruz, La Paz, Trinidad, Cobija and El Alto over the next several months.
